Her Guide is currently focused on the Netherlands, so this list covers Dutch services. All of the numbers below are free to call and reachable around the clock unless stated otherwise.
In an emergency
112 — police, fire brigade or ambulance. Call only for genuine emergencies: a life-threatening situation, a crime happening right now, or a fire.
Domestic abuse or child abuse
Veilig Thuis — 0800-2000. Free, confidential advice and reporting for domestic abuse and child abuse, for yourself or someone you're worried about. You can stay anonymous. Veilig Thuis works through around 25 regional organisations, but you don't need to find your own number — calling 0800-2000 and entering your municipality connects you straight to the right one.
Chat is available on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00 at veiligthuis.nl. To find your regional office's own website or address rather than call, see veiligthuis.nl/locaties.
Sexual violence
Centrum Seksueel Geweld — 0800-0188. For anyone affected by sexual violence in roughly the last week. Free and confidential, day and night. Like Veilig Thuis, this runs through 16 regional centres, and the same number automatically connects you to the one for your area — there's no separate number to look up.
Chat is also available at centrumseksueelgeweld.nl. To find your regional centre's own website or address rather than call, see centrumseksueelgeweld.nl/regios.
Thoughts of suicide, or worried about someone
113 Zelfmoordpreventie — call 113 or 0800-0113 (both free). Anonymous support for anyone with thoughts of suicide, and for people worried about someone else. Chat and more information at 113.nl.
Someone to talk to, any time
De Luisterlijn (Sensoor) — 088 0767 000. A confidential listening ear, day and night, for anyone who needs to talk to someone. Chat is available daily from 10:00 to 22:00 at deluisterlijn.nl.
Reporting a crime, or your rights as a victim
Police, non-emergency — 0900-8844. For reports and questions when there's no immediate danger — this is "geen spoed, wel politie." Available 24/7; regular call charges apply.
Slachtofferhulp Nederland (Victim Support) — 0900-0101. Free help for victims of crime, traffic accidents or disaster: emotional support, help through the legal process, and advice on compensation. Available Monday to Friday 08:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00.
Outside the Netherlands
We don't yet have a checked list for other countries, rather than publish numbers we can't keep current. Search "[your country] domestic abuse helpline" or use your local emergency number. If you run this site for another country, add your own checked numbers here.
These numbers were checked against politie.nl, rijksoverheid.nl, veiligthuis.nl, 113.nl, slachtofferhulp.nl, centrumseksueelgeweld.nl and deluisterlijn.nl in August 2026. We link to the national numbers rather than list individual regional offices: both Veilig Thuis and Centrum Seksueel Geweld route you to your own region automatically, and the numbers some regional offices publish are for professionals making a referral, not for someone calling for themselves. If a number here stops working, please tell us at admin@herguide.nl.
